Thank you for your interest in applying to become a Newport News Extension Master Gardener. Apply early! Depending on the number of applications we receive, our application period may end before July 8. Newport News residents only should complete the application on this page. If you live in another city, please contact their VCE office. Please note that your references may not be family members. Additionally, when filling out your application, please respond to all questions and give thorough and informative answers. Your inclusion in our program will be based, in part, on the information you provide.

Extending knowledge and changing lives.
As an educational outreach component of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE), the Extension Master Gardener program brings the resources of Virginia's land-grant universities to the people of the Commonwealth.
NNEMGs provide horticultural education to Newport News residents. In 2024, 81 active Newport News Volunteers contributed 7,431 hours of direct educational contact to its citizens.
NNEMGs can be found at the Grin and Grow learning garden, Atlantic View Post Acute, local schools, churches, working the Garden for Nature program, at the mobile help desk, and with our Speaker's Bureau at various locations and events.
