Hort Therapy

Our Horticultural Therapy program provides residents of the James River Convalescent Center a way of interacting with plants and nature.  Benefits also include sensory stimulation, relaxation and enjoyment, physical activity, social interaction and a sense of self satisfaction.

Volunteers meet with 14 to 20 residents every Friday morning to create bouquets of plants and container plants that have been donated.  Occasionally, the residents are taken on field trips to local nurseries and gardens.
