This page will list up-coming events sponsored by the Newport News Mastergardeners as well as gardening events from other organizations and vendors.  Understand that we do not endorse vendors, just their gardening events.

Highlights

Attend Rain Barrel Workshops sponsored by NNMGAs, the Newport News Waterworks and the Newport News Recycling Office.  For $40 you can assemble a 55-gal. rain barrel you can carry home.  Pre-registration is required.

Up-coming rain barrel workshops:

• February 11th and March 10th, 2012, at the VA Cooperative Extension Office, 739 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Newport News, 10:00 am.
• April 21st, 2012, at Christopher Newport University's Annual Garden Symposium.  Time to be announced.

Pre-registration begins December 1st.  Call the Extension Office at 757-591-4838 for details and to register.

The "Grin and Grow Garden" programs are educational programs sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension for children aged 5 to 8 accompanied by a parent.  The events are on the third Sunday of the month at two o’clock at the picnic tables in front of the Grin and Grow garden, in Riverview Farm Park, at the intersection of Menchville Road and Youngs Road.  The schedule for 2012 is presently being updated.

February 25th:  The 2012 Spring Conference sponsored by Four County Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension are putting on in Culpeper at the Daniel Technology Center on Germana Community College Campus.  The brochure is here.

March 4th-5th:  The 2012 Philadelphia Flower Show!  A bus tour is available at the Fred Heutte Center.
